Summer is in full swing down here in Sarasota, and our area’s summer events are nothing but lively, vibrant, and fun. Whether you are visiting for a weekend or spending an entire week soaking up the sun on Siesta Key, check out a few events happening around town that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy. From music and performances to beach runs and yoga, the local experts here at Best Western Siesta Key are sharing a great variety of events.
Jazz on the Circle
In the heart of St. Armands Circle, at Circle Park, is a free Summer Concert Series that runs until September. “Jazz on the Circle” is a relaxing and groovy event that invites you to bring blankets and chairs, sit back, and enjoy live music every Saturday from 11 am – 2 pm. Performances are held beneath a tent, so Florida’s summer rain showers certainly won’t be raining on this parade.
Summer Circus Spectacular
Sarasota wouldn’t be what it is today without its rich circus history, and each summer, the circus is celebrated at the Historic Asolo Theatre at The Ringling with an annual Summer Circus Spectacular. With various circus acts, including adagio, duo lrya, rolla bolla, contortion, hand balancing, and more, audience members are invited Tuesdays-Fridays at 2 pm and Saturdays at 5 pm through August 13th to witness the magic and excitement. Don’t forget to visit the Circus Museum while visiting The Ringling to immerse yourself in the circus arts truly.
Kids’ Summer Beach Runs
If your kids love the beach and love to run, then this summer event is for them! In partnership with CoreSRQ, #SRQCountyParks, Sarasota Crew, and New Balance Sarasota, Manasota Track Club created Kids’ Summer Beach Runs. All summer long, kids get together at the pavilion playground at Siesta Beach on Tuesdays, and the Venice Fishing Pier at North Brohard Park on Wednesdays to run, connect, and win ribbons. Registration begins at 5:30 pm, and kids take off running at 6:30 pm.
Friday Fest
Waterfront views, art, entertainment, live music, and mouthwatering food and drinks make Sarasota a beautiful destination for visitors. Each month from June to September, The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Friday Fest honors the best Sarasota has to offer; live local bands, talented artists, food trucks, and drinks! This free outdoor concert series takes place on the Van Wezel lawn that overlooks the spectacular Sarasota Bay, making it a fun and stunning event to attend.
Yoga By the Bay
Clear your mind, unwind, and find your zen at a free outdoor yoga event at Bayfront Park every Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Near the playground close to the water’s edge, Yoga By The Bay with Erin enhances the calm and relaxation you hope to experience on your Siesta Key vacation. After a day at the beach, a yoga class is a perfect start to your evening. All you need is a yoga mat and a water bottle.
The summer is a wonderful time of year to visit Sarasota and Siesta Key. Between the perfect weather for swimming in the pool or the gulf, the endless indoor activities so you can cool off in the A/C while still having a blast, and the fantastic events and activities happening around town, you simply can’t beat summertime in Sarasota.
