More Cowbell! Siesta Key’s Drum Circle
Posted by Best Western Siesta Key onDecember 7, 2020 in General, The Beach, Things To Do.

The Siesta Key Drum Circle is a bit of a mystical experience amidst the thriving, bustling tourism that tends to define the Sarasota area. Every Sunday evening, about an hour before sunset, drummers and other rhythmic artists appear on the white, powdery sands of Siesta Key’s main pavilion (between lifeguard stations 3 and 4) to beat their drums, move their bodies and create a synergy that is quickly becoming all too rare in this day and age. The local experts at the Best Western Siesta Key encourage you to check out Siesta Key’s drum circle for yourself. The vivacity and freedom experienced here is second to none and will likely become a true highlight of your visit. And yes, you should definitely bring your cowbell.
The Best Things In Life Are Free
Maybe one of the most surprising aspects of the Siesta Key Drum Circle is that it is always a completely free event. And by free, we don’t just mean monetary (though it also doesn’t cost a penny). This is a place where you’re free to be yourself! Be the musician you always wanted to be. Be the guy that hops up and starts dancing spontaneously. Be the girl who brings a hula hoop or or tambourine and joins in. Bring yourself, bring your family, bring your friends and join in the fun at your leisure. There is no prescribed schedule, no time limit, no cap on the number of people who can join in. Everyone is welcome, and nothing is expected in return.

Release Your Inner Hippie
The idea of letting go a little bit can truly be inviting. Harken back to the sixties and relive the time when people would simply break into song or dance because it felt good to move. There is no message or ulterior motive behind the scenes. The individuals who started the Siesta Key Drum Circle 20 years ago did so spontaneously. They arrive every Sunday evening just to celebrate the completion of another week, and welcome the new one tomorrow. What’s beautiful, free-spirited break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Experience a Unique Show Every Time
Since the Siesta Key Drum Circle is a spontaneous event, no two shows are alike. A few of the people who began the circle 20 years ago still show up most Sundays and bang on their drums. Others have joined in over the years, either in some professional capacity or simply because they discovered this for themselves and it became a part of them. Nothing is rehearsed or planned, so the drummers simply listen to each other and feel the vibes to know what to do and play next. The result is truly inspiring, whether you’re playing along, dancing to their rhythms or simply enjoying a cold drink as you sit or stand around the impromptu circle.
If you’re hoping that your adventures to Siesta Key take you a little off course, the Siesta Key Drum Circle might just do the trick. Fun, free and unique, you’ll find a jewel of a show hidden in plain sight every Sunday evening just before the sun sets. The next time you’re visiting Siesta Key, talk to the friendly staff at The Best Western Siesta Key. We’ll be happy to point you in the right direction to experience this unique and inspiring bit of magic.
