Siesta Key is full of hidden gems, hideaways, and fantastic spots that are ideal for unplugging from your day-to-day life and getting lost in a good book. Coupled with world-renowned white sand and warm turquoise waters, there is no question as to why Siesta Key is often described as “a peaceful paradise” by the millions of visitors it hosts each year. With so many places to explore and find tranquility, quiet, and happiness, bookworms and casual readers thrive in Siesta Key and its surrounding area. That’s why your friends here at Best Western Siesta Key are sharing our top six favorite places to curl up with a good book!
The Beach
An obvious choice for reading on Siesta Key is the beach! Take your book to Siesta Key Beach so you can simultaneously spend time with the family while you unplug and relax. Turtle Beach, especially as you near sunset, is so serene and picture-perfect that you may believe you’re already written in the pages of a brand new novel. At any time of day, Crescent Beach is quiet and a sunny escape that you are sure to love.
Bayfront Park and Marina
Pack your blanket, hammock, or pull up a park bench at Bayfront Park and prepare for ultimate relaxation. Here is where you can find shade in the grass amongst the many banyan trees that create a peaceful, comfortable, and scenic spot for reading. As you flip the pages of your book and glance up at the world around you, your eyes will surely spy slow sailing ships and boats, adorable dogs, kids playing, and people happily enjoying their day.
A Cozy Cafe or Coffee Shop
There is nothing like finding a cozy coffee shop with delicious lattes, teas, espressos, and more when you are in the mood to read. Settling into a comfortable seat with the glorious coffee aromas that fill the air and ordering your favorite drink and something sweet makes for the best atmosphere for reading. Some of our favorite cafes near Siesta Key are The Clever Cup Coffee Shop in Gulf Gate, O & A Coffee and Supply in downtown Sarasota, The Elixir Tea House on Hillview St. off S. Tamiami Trail, and Captain Curt’s Coffee and Beer Garden on Siesta Key.
Ted Sperling Park on South Lido Beach
Ted Sperling Park on South Lido Beach is the perfect combination of a quiet beach and wooded nature trails, complete with picnic tables. Whether you are after some shade from Mother Nature or a change in beachy scenery, this little hidden gem of Sarasota checks all the boxes. Bring your favorite adventure book or beachy romance novel to this serene and secluded spot.
Dog-Friendly Parks
It is proven that our four-legged friends provide comfort and ease our stress, so it only makes sense that they, too, enjoy some peace and quiet as you read. Bring your best furry companion along with you on your journey to serenity as you get carried away into a new world. Since some of our favorite reading spots are unfortunately not suitable for dogs and pets, we wanted to ensure you had more options. We recommend checking out some of our favorite dog-friendly parks like the Venice Beach Brohard Paw Park, 17th Street Paw Park, Arlington Park, and Celery Fields in Sarasota.
By the Pool
One of our favorite amenities here at Best Western Siesta Key is our pool! Not only is it a breath of fresh air after a day in the sand a salt, but it is the perfect location for reading. During the day, let the kids splash safely while you lounge in the sun and read. Then in the evenings, curl up by the fire with a cocktail from our Sand Dollar Pool Bar to end your day on a beautiful, calm, chill, and rejuvenated note.
Whether you are escaping your troubles and worries or noisy, crazy people, your friends here at Best Western Siesta Key have your back. We will do our best to ensure your trip to Sarasota and Siesta Key is nothing less than relaxing, comfortable, easy, and peaceful.
