Sarasota Farmers Market: Fresh Finds, Entertainment, and More!
Posted by Best Western Siesta Key onJuly 19, 2021 in Downtown Sarasota, Events, Food, General, Historic Sarasota, Things To Do.

Enjoyed by locals and visitors every Saturday, the Sarasota Farmers Market has been filling the streets of downtown Sarasota with yogis, musicians, food, drinks, fresh produce, artisans, flowers, and more since 1979. Founded by Paul Thorpe and the Downtown Merchants Association, this weekly event is held from 7 AM and ends at 1 PM every single Saturday. Bring your friends, family, and even your four-legged friends, to browse over 80 vendors and enjoy a little taste of what local Sarasota makers have to offer. While your friends here at Best Western Siesta Key take pride in our home, we wanted to offer some insights into why this weekly tradition has a special place in our hearts.
Sunrise Yoga
Early morning yogis will enjoy starting their day with a beautiful sunrise yoga practice outside next to the Mermaid Fountain in Paul N. Thorpe Jr. Park, located on the corner of Pineapple Ave. and Lemon Ave. Offered every week at 7 AM to kick off the Farmers Market, you will be guided through a flow that allows you to start your weekend with a clear mind and aligned chakras. Thanks to the expert instructors from Pineapple Yoga + Cycling Studio, this free practice is open to everyone, including experienced, newbies, and young yogis.
Live Music
While you stroll down the street and leisurely browse through the vendors, your ears will perk up to the sound of Sarasota’s best local musicians. From acoustic to jazz bands, you can hear music no matter what end you find yourself at the Farmers Market. Be sure to check the Live Music & Events Calendar as musical artists and groups take turns filling downtown Sarasota with live tunes and fresh stylings.
Fresh & Delicious Food
Whether you arrive on an empty stomach, plan to enjoy a casual yet unique breakfast, or build an appetite from the sweet aromas coming from each food stand, your taste buds will love a trip to the Sarasota Farmers Market. Find local favorite foods such as guacamole, jerky, empanadas, and wood-fired pizza, and refreshing drinks like iced tea, matcha, organic juices, and cold brew coffee. You can even stop at a fresh produce stand to stock up on the best fruits and vegetables in town to take to the beach or bring back to Best Western Siesta Key for a healthy snack during your stay.
Unique Artisans
Among the zen, music, and mouthwatering treats, the Sarasota Farmers Market is also bursting at the seams with local makers and brilliant artisans. You can scoop up some of the best souvenirs from your trip here, such as lovely and relaxing candles and soaps, natural stones and sea glass jewelry, beautiful art, fun home goods, and treats for your furry friends. You are sure to find yourself marveling at the creativity and hard work offered by these creative minds.
Colorful Flowers & Plants
The Sarasota Farmers Market is also home to area florists, greenhouses, and nurseries. Purchase a special surprise for a loved one, brighten up your vacation, or enhance an already wonderful celebration with thoughtfully wrapped hand-picked flowers. If you are traveling home by car, why not bring a little piece of Florida life with you in the form of a fresh and cheerful plant?
With so much to see, do, hear, taste, and smell, there is no shortage of entertainment and enjoyment at the Sarasota Farmers Market. See why your friends here at Best Western Siesta Key love attending the market each week, and be sure to keep your eye on their social media for further updates and parking advice. After the market ends, keep strolling through the lively streets of downtown Sarasota or even plan a fun and delicious brunch.
