The Return of Orioles Spring Training
Posted by Best Western Siesta Key onJanuary 29, 2018 in General, Things To Do.
Every year at this time, with anticipation, we await the return of the orange and black birds. These are not just any birds. Their return to Sarasota signals that magical time of year when Ed Smith Stadium comes alive and tourists and locals get to become up close and personal with our spring training team, the Baltimore Orioles.
If’ you’ve never attended a spring training game, you are missing something special. The up close and personal experience of being close to the players and the game itself is nothing short of fantastic. Now add in our superb Florida weather at that time of the year and you’ve got every reason in the world to spend one of your afternoons or evenings surrounded by the smells and sounds of a baseball stadium in a small, home town atmosphere.
Spring training starts in mid February as the ball players first begin to arrive. Baseball spring training is an exciting time of year, holding new hopes and promises for a winning season and perhaps even a world championship in “far off” October. The Baltimore Orioles, playing here in Sarasota at Ed Smith Stadium since 2010, host their opening Spring Training Day on Friday, February 23rd with the Tampa Bay Rays and end their 35 playing games in March just before traveling back to Baltimore to open at Camden Yards.
For more information regarding single game tickets, you can see availability online here or you can contact the Sarasota Orioles office at 941-893-6300. See you at the game!
