When you visit the Siesta Key and Sarasota area, you’ll find beautiful weather and easy access to water everywhere you look. If you didn’t bring your favorite pup along for the ride, you might be wishing you had before long. There are some great pet-friendly locations peppered throughout our area that you and your dog will love. If you do happen to travel this direction with your fur babies, The Best Western Siesta Key has put together a list of our top 5 favorite dog parks and beaches. Get ready to get out there with your favorite four-legged companion and enjoy the natural side of Siesta Key and Sarasota!
Brohard Paw Park
1600 Harbour Dr. S., Venice
The only beach in Sarasota County specifically for dogs, Brohard Park features plenty of free parking and tons of off-leash running around space. There’s a water station for filling your dog’s water bowl or for washing off sand and salt water from messy paws. Surprisingly clean and spacious, this beach is everything your dog could hope for in her Florida puppy paradise.
17th Street Dog Park
4570 17th St.
This spacious dog park features plenty of room to explore and offers separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. Dog water stations keep pups hydrated while poop stations help patrons keep the area clean for everyone. Each section also features agility equipment for dogs to climb and explore!
Lakeview Paw Park
7150 Largo St
Enjoy plenty of shade at Lakeview Paw Park, where plenty of picnic tables and benches provide great places for you to sit and watch your pup roam in their large or small dog section. Dog water stations keep everyone hydrated, which is just as important (if not more so) for dogs as for people in the Florida sunshine and heat. This is a great spot for running puppies around on hot days.
Creekwood Dog Park
7025 44th Ave. E
One of the best-maintained dog parks in the area, Creekwood Dog Park features lots of grassy, wide-open spaces and sunshine. Each of the large and small dog fenced sections include doggy toy boxes. Plus there are restrooms and kids’ playgrounds nearby, making this area a great one for the whole family.
Joan M. Durante Park
5555 Gulf of Mexico Dr.
Discover a more natural side of our Florida beaches with your puppy in tow when you visit Durante Park. Explore miles of wooden boardwalks and trails through salt marshes and mangrove wetlands. The beautiful scenic views of Sarasota Bay are unbeatable while the quiet serenity of Longboat Key’s slower pace makes for an inspiring morning on the beach.
Bring your furry four-footed friends to the Siesta Key and Sarasota area to experience a Florida dog’s best life.
