The Beach
By Best Western Siesta Key | August 2, 2021
To keep the Siesta Key Beaches clean, healthy, and safe for wildlife, dogs and other pets are unfortunately not allowed. Soil and sand found on Siesta Key and other beaches are vulnerable to bacteria, and urine and fecal matter also pollute the glistening water.
While they don’t offer sand and waves, dog parks near Siesta Key are bursting at the seams with friendly playmates, obstacle courses, grassy fields, water fountains, and some even have kiddie pools.
Instead of taking a long walk on the beach with your dog, an alternative is to grab their leash and check out some local dog-friendly walking trails, like Oscar Scherer State Park, Celery Fields, Bird Key Beach Park, and Nathan Benderson Park.
Most bars and restaurants with outside seating are very pet and dog friendly and even accommodate your furry pals with their own water dish. If you are looking to keep your toes in the sand or soak in the waterfront views, we recommend dining with your pup at O’Leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill, Old Salty Dog, or Boatyard Waterfront Bar & Grill.
Although the surrounding area of Siesta Key is extremely dog friendly, the only true beach in the area where your four-legged friends can swim with you and dig in the sand is Brohard Paw Park in Venice. Luckily, it's less than a 30 minute drive from your friends here at Best Western Siesta Key.
Help us preserve the breathtaking beauty and health of Siesta Key Beaches.
