Going Snorkeling on Siesta
The decision to buy or rent is a personal one. If you are a frequent snorkeler, it may be worth it to buy your own set. If it's new to you, or if you don't reguarly go, there are many rental options. Ride and Paddle is our favorite local gear rental shop.
Where to go?
We love Point of Rocks, just off Cresent Beach. Teaming with sealife, colorful coral, and bright green sea-grass meadows, you are always going to spot something interesting. Lido, Longboat, and Bird Key are all wonderful places to explore as well. Of course, if you are willing to go a little further, about 15 minutes away, is Venice, the Shark Tooth Capital of America. It's always fun to search for teeth.
Chartering a Boat?
One of the funnest parts of Sarasota/Siesta Key are the million sand-bars and islands to hop around to. Renting a boat is a fun and easy way to skip the crowds.
Have Fun With It
There are so many great things to see in the water off Siesta Key. We recommend leaving the shipwrecks to scuba divers and just enjoying the coral lined coasts of our wonderful keys.
