Why Hotels with Pools are a “Must” Even in Siesta Key

Dreaming of a trip to Siesta Key means dreaming of the tranquility of the water as you read a book, sunbathe, swim, float, or simply relax. We know that your mind might go straight to the beach and the calm waves rolling into shore. But, when you plan a beach vacation, why would you need a pool at your hotel? While the Gulf of Mexico is a beautiful, fantastic, warm, and peaceful body of water, it is also important to be prepared for when you may not want to swim in the Gulf. Luckily, when you stay with us here at Best Western Siesta Key, you will have access to a lovely pool where you can swim and lounge confidently and feel stress-free.
Change of Scenery
Having a nice warm yet refreshing pool at your hotel gives you more options and things to do during your beach vacation. Swimming in the Gulf and lounging on the beach is different than swimming in a pool and lounging in the sun, especially since Best Western Siesta Key also has a hot tub and Sand Dollar Pool Bar! After a beach day, it can be so relaxing, wonderful, and convenient to take a dip in the pool and spend some time having fun right at the hotel.
Rough Surf & Yellow Flags
If you plan to vacation with kids, friends, or family members who are not the strongest swimmers, a hotel pool can be a great way for you to feel more comfortable when hanging out and playing by the water. Although the Gulf of Mexico is an ideal spot for learning how to swim and navigate the ocean due to its general calmness, swimmers can still encounter some moderate to rough surf conditions and currents. Lifeguards will post yellow flags to let you know if this is the case and allow beachgoers to swim with caution.
Rip Currents & Red Flags
As storms approach Siesta Key during hurricane season you may be faced with high winds that cause very rough surf and even rip currents. Of course, these conditions make it dangerous to swim at the beach. Anytime you spot a red flag or a double red flag, this is an indication that swimming is not a good idea. Having a pool to go back to will ensure you can still have a fun day splashing or floating in the water.
Marine Wildlife Sightings & Purple Flag
It can be such a memorable and amazing experience to spot dolphins and other marine wildlife during your trip to Siesta Key! However, what might not be as lovely is spotting jellyfish or seeing purple flags waving by the lifeguard stands. Purple flags signal that marine wildlife is close by and perhaps can be dangerous. This is nothing to fear, especially if you have the option of spending the sunny afternoon at the hotel pool, sipping on drinks while you lounge, and being confident that you, the kids, family, and friends are out of harm’s way.
Although you are minutes away from the beautiful turquoise waters of the serene and tranquil Gulf of Mexico on Siesta Key, having a pool conveniently located at your hotel can still be important. We like to think of it as an extension of paradise! Whether you want to chill poolside with peace of mind and confidence or need a backup plan if you see red flags on the beach, Best Western Siesta Key has a brilliant pool area complete with a hot tub and the Sand Dollar Pool Bar for your enjoyment.
