Why You Should Visit Crescent Beach – Access Point 12
Posted by Best Western Siesta Key onNovember 16, 2020 in The Beach, Things To Do.

While the white, sandy beaches of Florida’s west coast are hard to pass up, not all beach access points are created equal. With quiet, private access to Siesta Key, Access Point 12, (also known as Gateway Beach or Crescent Beach), is the perfect beach for someone who wants a quiet getaway with access to some fun spots on Siesta. Here the experts at The Best Western Siesta Key offer a few insights into why you will love this particular stretch of our island.
Why Should I Visit Crescent Beach?
Opposite Stickney Point Rd, beach Access Point 12 is good for anyone who wants a quiet beach experience. If you find yourself asking why else you should visit this access point, we recommend it for its white sand, beautiful snorkel points, and access to other locations. Access Point 12 is also known as Crescent Beach and opens up on the Point of Rocks, which is a beautiful area great for beginner snorkelers and divers. Since this point is so private, it also makes for a good sunbathing spot or birdwatching. If you are looking for someplace with a lot of public amenities like volleyball nets or grills, this is not the beach for you, as Crescent Beach is known for being quiet. However, if you want something that has access to a lot of shopping and restaurants, this access point is the one for you.
How Do I get to Crescent Beach?
Located near Stickney Point Bridge and across from Captain Curt’s Crab and Oyster Bar, you can access Crescent Beach from Midnight Pass Road, a small street that is a cross street to Old Stickney Point Road. Since this beach access point is so private, and the street that it’s on is small, there is not much parking, only about 20 spaces or so. Due to this, we always recommend getting there early so you can take advantage of this beautiful beach without having to walk too far.

What Will I Find on Crescent Beach?
On Access Point 12, you will find examples of what Siesta Key is known for, like its powdery white sand, and clear blue waters that also provide for some good beginner snorkeling at the Point of Rocks. Be careful though, as you will also find slippery rocks that can be a safety hazard. Other than that, on the beach itself that is all you will find, perfect for a simple weekend getaway. In the surrounding area, though, you will find plenty of shopping and restaurants to experience.
If you enjoy a beach that has a lot of public amenities for some fun in the sun, Access Point 12 is probably not the one for you. But, if you enjoy a calm, relaxing beach experience that has the opportunity for snorkeling, this point is your perfect escape. The professionals at The Best Western Siesta Key also recommend this beach if you’re looking for a good shopping experience, but make sure to get there early in order to get a coveted parking spot.
